Leaders of Tomorrow!

Mission: The Liberty Partnerships Rising Stars Program (LPP) at the Center for Women in Government & Civil Society (CWGCS) encourages young women and men in grades 7-12 to achieve academic and personal excellence, obtain their high school diploma, pursue higher education and begin workforce preparation. Rising Stars will also build new relationships, self-esteeem and the skills that will enable them to be the leaders of tomorrow.

Purpose:

• Provide a safe and healthy environment for adolescents;
• Assist students in developing the skills needed to succeed in school;
• Provide students with opportunities that enable academic, personal, and social growth;
• Encourage students to plan for their future and set goals which will allow them to achieve their dreams.

This free educational program offers a variety of services, centered around five LPP goals:

• Educational Achievement
  Successful completion of current grade level: Meet requirements for high school graduation; Pursue higher education.
• Self-Empowerment
  Enhance self-esteem and increase self-confidence
• Workforce preparation and career exploration
  Develop work readiness and job-seeking skills, attitudes, and behaviors, and explore career opportunities
• Public policy leadership development
  Increase knowledge of public policy issues, political structures and policy makers
• Enrichment Activities
  Enhance life skills, computer competence and interest in extracurricular activities.
