Q. What graduate degree should I be seeking?
A. The Fellowship is open to any student who has completed 12 graduate credit hours in any New York State accredited college or university.

Q. What field of study should I be enrolled in?
A. Any field of study is acceptable as long as there is a strong interest in issues relating to women, children and families.

Q. Does the program provide housing?
A. No, but we will assist you in your search.

Q. What are the educational requirements?
A. Applicant must have completed 12 graduate credits in a matriculated program.

Q. Do I have to be enrolled in a NYS College or university?
A. Yes.

Q. Where are the placements?
A. Placements are policy-related work assignments in which a fellow is placed in the state legislature, a state agency, or in a nonprofit organization to work on policy issues for 30 hours per week, Monday thru Thursday, in Albany, NY.

Q. Are all the placements in Albany?
A. Yes.

Q. What is the stipend?
A. $9,000. is paid throughout the Fellowship time period.

Q. Are health benefits included?
A. Health benefits are an option; an affordable benefit package is available

Q. What is the deadline for submitting applications?
A. Applications are due by May 15 (extensions available).

Q. Can application materials be submitted electronically?
A. Yes, the application can be submitted electronically as an attachment via email to one of the addresses listed below. All original and official recommendations and transcripts must be submitted in hard copy.

Q. Should materials be submitted as a complete packet?
A. Yes, except the transcript and five recommendations which should be sent directly to the Center by the academic institution or individual recommender.

Q. When may I expect to hear if I have been accepted?
A. Notification of acceptance begins in June and may continue until January as placements become available.
